I welcome the agreement reached in the Environment Council on key planks of #Fitfor55:
- ETS extension;
- Climate Social Fund;
- Phase-out of combustion engines by 2035

I fully support the G7 Pact for Pandemic Readiness to enhance global health surveillance.

We have also been discussing the Global Pandemic Preparedness Fund.

The EU pledged $450 million to support the setup of the fund.

Two takeaways:

1 - local vaccine production capacity is key.

#TeamEurope invests €1 billion in Africa for this and supports Latin American partners.

We repurposed €300 million of EU funds, from vaccine purchase to support for vaccination.
