Threats of unilateral action to unravel the Northern Ireland Protocol are either just the usual bluster or the UK government is indeed intent on breaking a legal agreement and their word, risking their global reputation. Perhaps unsurprising, but disappointing nonetheless. 1/

There are innovative financial instruments on the table.

One example is to have long term loans for renovations structured so that households do not pay cash interest until the property is sold or transferred, or the loan matures.

Households and businesses lack incentives to take up loans for #renovation purposes.

Currently, 72% renovations are self-funded, while only 18% consumers are taking #loans to renovate their homes, as they are too expensive.
