On this #IWD2023 I want to raise greater awareness around Cardiovascular disease in women.

#Cardiovascular risk in women is generally underestimated.

There are drastic inequalities between men and women in cardiovascular healthcare - now is the time for change.

-Sharing the care burden
-Promoting women in STEM
-Closing the gender pay gap

In Ireland and in Europe we have achieved so much for women in recent years but there is much unfinished business.

Today also marks the 1-year anniversary since @EU_Commission brought forward its proposal for a Directive on combatting violence against women.

As lead negotiator for this new EU law it is my aim to have an agreed position as soon as possible.

Europe cannot wait!

Globally, women are 12% less likely to use the Internet than men. In low- & middle-income countries, this gap even widens to 26%.
