strengthen the independence, resources & powers of national #EqualityBodies.
This legislation is an important deliverable for achieving a #UnionOfEquality.

I thank @Sweden2023EU for their work as we make progress on enacting the Directive on Equal Treatment. I call on Member States to support this proposal & to enable its adoption during this term. Combatting structural inequality is key to our aim to build a #UnionOfEquality.

I addressed the @WPLeadersOrg #WPLSummit2023 about the importance of women’s participation and leadership in decision-making. Only 1/3 of members of national parliaments in the EU are women. We must do better as gender equality strengthens our democracies. #UnionOfEquality

I met with @svenlehmann, Germany’s Commissioner for Sexual and Gender Diversity. We discussed Germany’s LGBTIQ action plan, and the need to finally adopt the EU equal treatment directive to ensure legal protection everywhere in the EU and achieve a #UnionOfEquality

In a message to the @OIIEurope Community Conference, I spoke of our upcoming EU-wide study on the barriers faced by #intersex people. It details the difficulties they face in all areas of life as well as the prevalence of non-consented and non-vital interventions imposed on them.
