Thanks to the European Trade Union Confederation @etuc_ces to invite me to speak about the @EU_Commission proposal on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence. This is much needed to better address environmental and human & social rights challenges throughout global supply chains

It is now for the @EUCouncil to agree unanimously on our proposal, so we can quickly table a directive.

The @EU_Commission is determined to act swiftly to make sure that EU countries are well equipped to enforce the restrictive measures.

The extension of the 🇪🇺 list of Eurocrimes to the violation of restrictive measures would allow us:

✅ to avoid fragmentation between national systems ;

✅ to guarantee an EU-wide approach to this criminal offence: a same definition of the crime and similar sanctions.

RT @EU_Commission: First, we are proposing to make the violation of sanctions an EU crime.

Such action is a criminal offence that threats international peace and security and should be sanctioned firmly throughout the EU.

Those trying to circumvent sanctions must be punished.
