Five years on, we are none the wiser on the investigation into the involvement of Maltese politicians in the murder.

Malta was deemed to be at high risk for editorial independence and political interference in the 2022 MPM. Our citizens will benefit from stronger requirements for editorial independence and transparency of public expenditure on the press, among other proposals in EMFA.

It is unacceptable to impose press reforms without first consulting with the press itself.

@MaltaGov should heed the advice of Commissioner for Human Rights @coe_mijatovic and involve journalists as part of the full implementation of the public inquiry recommendations.
