Kosovo fulfills the requirements set out in the Visa Liberalisation Roadmap and made great progress in regards to document security, border management, public order and security. As @EPPGroup shadow I am glad to say that this agreement is well deserved by Kosovo!

I met the 🇮🇸 Icelandic Ambassador Ragnhildur Arnljótsdóttir, which holds the Presidency of the Council of Europe.

We agreed that deepening of #EU and #CoE cooperation is needed and the relationship between the European Parliament and PACE should be intensified.

Today I presented my draft report on the institutional relations between #EU & #CoE @PACE_Political meeting in Paris.

Our two institutions are not in competition over competencies & primacies, but complement and inspire each other.

To address the flaws in #minority protection, we would need a common framework of global & #EU standards.

Today I participated at the UN Forum on Minority Issues in @UNGeneva, where I said that the #UN could be more effective in the protection of #minorities by specifically targeting regional particularities through better synergies with inter-governmental organizations. @UN_HRC 1/2

Internal political differences in some #EU countries must not come at the expense of the #Schengen membership of Romania and Bulgaria. All the conditions were fulfilled more than 10 years ago. @EPPGroup

The rise in irregular entries is concerning and we can see the consequences of illegal border crossings all over Europe. 🇪🇺

@europarl_en adopted by a huge majority a resolution in favour of #Romania and #Bulgaria joining the #Schengen area.

We urge the @EUCouncil to take a favorable decision by the end of 2022 so that checks on persons at the internal borders can be lifted from the beginning of 2023!
