@cl26865429 @chhcalling The difference is that SF's abstentionism doesn't prevent Parliament or Government functioning: the show goes on without them.

For real equality, absentionists here (DUP or SF) shouldn't be able to block the Executive/Assembly proceeding, which is our proposal.

@NornEye @Titter_of_wit @allianceparty Except we aren't. We voted against it.

We want an agreed resolution between the UK/EU, for NI's benefit.

@Titter_of_wit Well aware of how it works. The issue is that Jeffrey acknowledges a solution would never be found in the courts: surely finding a solution should be the priority of a politician?

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling @europarl_en There's a lot of answers, just maybe not the ones you want.

But happy to chat again - enjoy your evening.

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling @europarl_en I'm not. I disagree with it, but Brexit happened: you're ignoring it has consequences.

Ultimately, the protocol was an attempt to deal with those. It was the will of the UK Parliament, and as a unionist, you have to accept that.

Catch you later.

@AndyBelfast @batsy09 @KGPorts @chhcalling You can roll it in glitter, though 😉

Seriously though, we aren't polishing the proverbial: we're identifying structural flaws and addressing them. Unionists backed this position until they collapsed the structures...

I don't want any party excluded: I want us working together.

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling @europarl_en I'm realistic and pragmatic about this: we want solutions that let NI flourish.

But we need to be realistic about what the limitations are about that and know a good deal when we see one.

The danger is that some politicians are pursuing a deal that just doesn't exist.

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling @europarl_en And what we have now isn't a hard border: however, I voted against it because it is unweildy and bureaucratic. I think that can be addressed, but some checks/barriers will still exist. We need to minimise them.

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling @europarl_en I've never denied I think NI (and the UK) would be better off in the EU. Emerging facts bear that analysis out. However, my priority is stability in NI: that means getting mutual agreement with UK/EU, securing our unique dual market access, and offering max business opportunity.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/naomi_long/st

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling @europarl_en Of course it's about context? Without the context of Brexit, no additional barriers would have been necessary. Without the disingenuous actions of Boris, we'd not be in this mess.

Context matters: the context now is that all parties are open to improvements. Surely a good thing?
