@AndyBelfast @batsy09 @KGPorts @chhcalling The DUP actually proposed similar reforms in 2011, 2016, 2017 and their most recent manifesto, but without the protection we suggest for the largest parties to have the right to take their places based on mandate if they wish: they argued for a fully voluntary coalition.

@AndyBelfast @batsy09 @KGPorts @chhcalling Check out our website allianceparty.org.

The right to be in government would still be established on mandate: however, parties could choose to opt out (currently the biggest two are the only one's who can't).

And we'd have weighted majority voting, not parallel consent. >

@gerry_mclarnon @chhcalling Given that there are no circumstances in which either would agree to inclusive, powersharing devolution, allowing them to call the shots on this would be a very foolish decision.

RT @Ppreally111Pp: @naomi_long @chhcalling absolutely make it no one single party can ever prevent elected representatives from performing the task set them by the electorate.

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling I've already been clear that comment was in the context of Government threatening to break the law in limited and specific ways, which was destructive.

I voted against the Protocol in @europarl_en and we've always been open to mutually agreed (UK/EU) changes to make life easier.

@loyalist442 We didn't want any new barriers anywhere in these islands. Those who supported Brexit made them inevitable.

We were honest & realistic about where those checks required are most likely to take place: at air/sea ports where there were already checks. We also want them minimised.

@AndyBelfast @rjpark @chhcalling Imagine expecting Government to keep its word? Shocking, eh?

Perhaps if Johnson hadn't signed a deal fully intending to break it and had instead tried to implement what he promised while renegotiating key problem areas (as we advocated), this would've been solved 18mths ago.

@tell1999 @chhcalling Maybe you should ask yourself how people other than unionists might react to there being no devolution?

Because it may not work out the way you hope - a bit like Brexit - and might actually undermine NI's place in the UK further.

@Basil04013438 @chhcalling Only if we reform the institutions. Otherwise, that option won't work.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/naomi_long/st

@rjpark @chhcalling Maybe you should read our proposals - they are entirely consistent with the GFA principles and don't end mandatory coalition, but allow the two main parties to opt out just as others already can without collapsing the Executive.

@KGPorts @chhcalling And it's not a case of get Stormont keep Stormont.

Hence we want institutional reform.

Thanks, @chhcalling, but we don't need more time. Every party except the DUP is ready to form the Assembly and Executive now.

Let's use the time you've given to conclude negotiations with the EU, to also reform the institutions so we can get on with it and do so sustainably.

@Glynboyo Legislation isn't "pushed through the courts": it requires an Assembly and Executive to pass.

@GarethBurns18 @NIOgov @chhcalling @moneillsf @J_Donaldson_MP @BeattieDoug @columeastwood @MaryLouMcDonald Care to suggest something constructive that we could do that we haven't that would restore the institutions? Or simply want to trade insults? Because your tweets are pretty patronising of those of us who were delivering until the institutions were collapsed by others.

@bigjames811 I'm not, no. I'm ready to get back to my full job, just as soon as I'm allowed to.
