@Desert_Lilies I was objecting to Hunt, not you. They are like schoolboys playing to a gallery of schoolboys.

@aDissentient Roughly 0.2p per kWh (or 66p...there seem to be two ways of calculating it. But the real issues are the constraint payments (paying generators to turn their turbines off) and not being able to electrify the railways because the grid can't deliver.

Decoupling disability benefits from work assessments looks like an improvement. Unconditional benefits are the way forward to end the patronising idea that someone else decides what you can do. 🤞
Better also to assist with making work accessible.

They didn't need to *abolish* the limit to help the doctors and other professionals get back to work. They just needed to raise it.
But of course, let's give a lift to the excessively wealthy.
Instead of the nurses and teachers.
Of course.

RT @BethRigby: WOW: Chancellor abolishes the £1m life time allowance (expectation was he'd lift threshold) and raise tax free allowance from 40k-60k

We could've had that 25% supplied by onshore wind, tidal, wave power, storage of surplus wind power etc, if this idiot govt had done something over the last 20 years. Instead we're going to pour money into a hyper-expensive alternative that'll never be completed.
RT @MoorgateMermaid: Nuclear energy to be classed as "Green" energy.

The problem is nothing to do with the sunshine. It's to do with the failure to invest in the power grid, failure to plan the arrival system for offshore wind the failure to invest in onshore wind and local generation, the failure to invest in storage and the failure to insulate.

RT @RichardJMurphy: Nuclear power is to be classed as environmentally sustainable energy when it threatens us all. Welcome to the parallel Tory universe.

Chancellor tries to take credit for halving inflation

But this is a purely technical matter since it is a year-on-year calculation

The massive prices increases are still baked in

And most of us haven’t had pay rises to match and so are poorer

Unbelievable listening to the chancellor claim the Govt are lifting children out of poverty - a government responsible for 3.9m children living in poverty in UK, that's 27% of children.

RT @RichardJMurphy: After 13 years in office the Tories are claiming credit for removing the prepayment meter premium. After thirteen years of overcharging they are finally taking action. What about repayment of all the past excess charges?

So short sighted to cave into motoring lobby & freeze fuel duty *again* – £6bn could help reduce cost of living in others ways for drivers, give decent pay rise to public sector workers & fund better public transport. Chancellor makes another wrong political choice

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/CarolineLucas

RT @TheGreenParty: 🤝 The Green Party would give public sector workers a fair pay rise that matches inflation.

✅ On a day of widespread strike action, it's clear we need to get our public services, like the NHS and public transport, working properly again.

RT @danielgoyal: Whatever gasp you take when you hear doctors are asking for a 26% pay rise, keep that same gasp when you realise that’s what this govt have taken away from them since they came to power!

One quarter less pay.

Now ask, why is there a staffing crisis?
