RT by @StevensHelga: Whatever happens in other countries, whatever political changes or moods, we must have sufficient potential to do our thing, to achieve our goals.

We will be fighting for our influence and for justice for Ukraine, and I am grateful to all the leaders who are assisting us, who have been with us since February 24th and will stand with us in 2024.

RT by @StevensHelga: How did we get here?

You would think after watching Hitler rise to power the world would take a harsher stand against Putin.

We know russia lies. We know peace treaties won’t be respected and we know Putin will continue to threaten other nations.

Biden is right. History will judge those who didn’t answer freedom’s call, but will we do a damn thing with that judgement?

RT by @StevensHelga: 11:06 pm in

Friday evening after a long day. I am a bit late today with the news from Ukraine, as my Aunt visited us, and we talked a lot (missed her). Anyway, it is , December 29, 2023:

Attacks on civilians & infrastructure
You probably know that it was a massive missile attack across Ukraine. 158 air targets were launched at Ukraine. 114 were destroyed by air defence.
Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia and other cities were hit.
russians targeted civilian infrastructure and military facilities in its night attack.
The latest numbers about casualties: 30 civilians were killed and over 160 injured, according to Ihor Klymenko, Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs.
russia spent at least $1,273 billion on this attack. Ekonomichna Pravda’s (Ukrainian media) estimates based on information from the Ukrainian Air Force.

International support
After a massive russian attack on Ukraine, Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom, announced the sending of hundreds of British-made air defence missiles to Kyiv.

I don't know if that helps
Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, stated that Ukraine, along with three dozen UN Member States, requested that the Ecuadorian Presidency convene an urgent UNSC meeting to address russia’s missile and drone attack against Ukraine, which resulted in multiple civilian casualties and heavy destruction of civilian infrastructure.

Oh, the air raid alert has just started. I am finishing my overview with a siren. Drones.

RT by @StevensHelga: Big changes for LGBT community in Poland - Prime Minister announces introduction of civil union

The new Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, has announced the start of work on the introduction of civil unions in Poland. He said that work on this bill will be carried out as early as this winter. The Prime Minister's announcement is one of the most important statements of the new government and a real symbol of the changes that the LGBT community in Poland has been waiting for.

Civil union is a social institution recognized by some states, in which a relationship between two people who do not wish or cannot legally register their marriage can be legalized.

Civil partnerships are legal in 29 European countries and same-sex marriage is legal in 19 countries. These include many former Soviet bloc countries, including Czechia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Hungary. Lithuania will join the group of these countries from January.

We would also like to remind that on December 12 this year the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg found that the absence of any regulation of same-sex relations in Poland violates the European Convention on Human Rights, in particular its article on the right to privacy and family life.

RT by @StevensHelga: "On 19 November at 7:20 pm, I received the notice to prepare for the mission. The mission was to go to an outpost (the furthest point controlled by Ukraine) to rotate the soldiers who had been in combat and in those positions for a long time. Around 8:30 pm, the team and I got out of the vehicles, because we were approaching the outpost and it was dangerous to move further with the vehicles.

The weather was extremely difficult. Due to the lack of light, the extremely poor weather conditions, the rough terrain (please imagine that every forest in the contact area is being knocked to the ground by artillery, so it is an apocalyptic picture), the resulting pits caused by the continuous blast of Russian shells and the weight of the equipment, some of the team got injured.

Because of this, and because other colleagues were injured, I was the only one who could continue the mission. I was obliged by order, but also out of a sense of duty, to carry it out so that at least one or two of those in the outpost could be temporarily relieved of the mission to hold positions. I covered most of the distance to the outpost around 02:20 am, when I took shelter in the basement of a house in (south of ). On the surface, the ground was completely destroyed.

I rested for a while and at 05:00 am I was on the move again, towards my final goal. I passed many shattered bodies and many anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. At 06:00 am we reached the final destination, the outpost I learned about in the mission description. For the first few hours I got used to the new location: I got an idea of where the Russians were shooting from, I understood the position I was in. Together with the people in the outpost, we entered a new mission, we split into two teams. One team continues to improve and fortify the position, the other provides protection and is ready to open f…

RT by @StevensHelga: ⚡️ The entire assault group of the 9th company, 71st regiment of the Russian Army surrendered, choosing life over senseless death.

They were thrown into a meaty assault and each of them realized that they would not return alive. They made the only right decision to surrender.

In captivity, they told us about the terrible attitude of the command and the constant abuse of the personnel.

But the most interesting thing is that a few days before the surrender, the command of the 71st Regiment forced them to record a video "greeting the New Year" for their families, saying that everything was fine. But in reality, everything was not so.

"In my opinion, there is a lot of what is written in the Western media, sometimes they even show it to me. Even with all due respect to the expert environment in the West, I don't even want to read some things. They absolutely do not understand what is happening here. Let's say there is a very small percentage of experts with whom you can agree."

RT by @StevensHelga: Feodosia, Ukraine 🇺🇦
- occupied by Russia ❗
Photos indicate that after the night strike there was almost nothing left of the Novocherkassk. But Shoigu reported to Putin only about “the damage to Novocherkassk during the repelling of the attack.” Meanwhile TSNua reports, that the training ship "UTS-150", is the second ship sunk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in occupied Feodosia . This was probably also reported by Radio Liberty.

RT by @StevensHelga: Fascinating article about an Azov Battalion warrior who did not surrender to the muscovies in May 2022; instead, he hid in a tunnel, waited a week, and made his way out of Azovstal, through Mariupol, and across 200km to the Ukrainian side -- where he was initially suspected of being a double agent. His story has been checked and double-checked, and apparently is legit.

He tells most of his story here, but there is some he cannot tell until the rest of the Azov POWs are returned and the muscovies are evicted from Ukraine.

NY Times says that the link to this article allows access to it without a NY Times account. I don't know the origination of the link (it was sent around in email), but I appreciate whoever figured out how to email a link that allows widespread access to this article....
