RT by @StevensHelga: Big changes for LGBT community in Poland - Prime Minister announces introduction of civil union

The new Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, has announced the start of work on the introduction of civil unions in Poland. He said that work on this bill will be carried out as early as this winter. The Prime Minister's announcement is one of the most important statements of the new government and a real symbol of the changes that the LGBT community in Poland has been waiting for.

Civil union is a social institution recognized by some states, in which a relationship between two people who do not wish or cannot legally register their marriage can be legalized.

Civil partnerships are legal in 29 European countries and same-sex marriage is legal in 19 countries. These include many former Soviet bloc countries, including Czechia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Hungary. Lithuania will join the group of these countries from January.

We would also like to remind that on December 12 this year the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg found that the absence of any regulation of same-sex relations in Poland violates the European Convention on Human Rights, in particular its article on the right to privacy and family life.
