@PhilippaNuttall @georgeeaton @NewStatesman Not only are old & new homes poorly insulated, 99% of the insulation we do use is fossil fuel based with a high level of embodied carbon. Yes, we need an insulation plan but it needs to be done with nature-based materials such as wood fibre which can store carbon:

Is this greenwash? Insulation marketed as GreenGuard but scoring only 1 out 3. Reduces fossil fuel use? Yes. Stores carbon? No. Embedded carbon = high = not green. Time for clear customer information on packaging. @jonburkeUK @SustainableTall @1alexmason

RT @SlowMoneyGreen: I remember driving from Sunnyvale, to the Grand Canyon, in the 80s, and having a thick paste of bugs on the front of the VW camper.
I made a similar drive in 2019, and barely had to clean the windshield, round trip.
The biodiversity loss is staggering.

RT @queenofpeat: Urgent reminder that peat is 50% carbon. When you remove peat from its protective boggy ecosystem and spread it in your garden, that carbon ends up in the atmosphere. Peat in bogs not bags. Spread the word. Go #peatfree.

Spot on. It also delivers Renovate Europe. Insulation drives down fossil fuel use and hence helps tackle climate change BUT it must be done with nature based materials such as wood NOT with carbon intensive materials like stone wool, glass wool etc. @CEIBois @europanels_EPF
