Minister Pohamba Shifeta said that Namibia is taking concrete action to fight climate change. On the importance of forests, he said: “Citizens of our country & developing countries depend on forests 🌳 & its products for their livelihoods. We call on everyone to plant a tree.”
Dr Clemens von Doderer, Resident Representative of @HSFNamibia noted that the first of its kind conference aims to discuss the current state of forest management in Namibia, as well as to identify potential pathways for a bioeconomy-based value chain for Namibia.
@GosiaL8 Deputy Head of @EU2Namibia said the EU provides nearly €80m per year to developing countries to assist with initiatives related to forests. “We believe that sustainable & inclusive management of these valuable resources is crucial for the communities’ livelihoods.”

The priority areas of Namibia’s cooperation with EU are: 1. Foundational Skills (Education), 2. Inclusive Green Growth & 3. Good Governance & Gender Equality. For the inception period, covering 2021 - 2024, the EU will provide financial support of more than 627 million NAD
