I'm happy COM agrees that the product description of sustainability criteria should be strictly on a voluntary basis.
(3/3) Many of our GI producers are #SMEs , so our aim with this revision is to simplify the rules, shorten the registration procedures and to improve the protection of GI products inside and outside the EU.
(2/3) GI products are already produced sustainably from a social, economic or environmental perspective. I'm happy to learn that #Commission agrees: product description of sustainability criteria should be strictly on a voluntary basis.
(1/3) Important meeting of the @europarl_en #WineIntergroup on the revision of GI regulation. GIs are an important tool to protect and promote our high quality European agricultural products.
2/2 Great HU #achievement: pipeline crude oil transport is exempt from the oil #pricecap and #sanctions don’t apply to nuclear #energy. We need to ensure that families and companies have enough energy to get going.
1/2 Common sense prevailed yesterday in the Council when deciding about REPowerEU allocations. The MS affected by the war and exposed to Russian energy sources aren’t the ones most affected by the pandemic. Good to see that the allocation keys will finally take this into account.

Today at #EPplenary in my speech I pointed out: new technologies like #cryptocurrencies & #blockchain are important, but they can't be exempt from taxation. The work of the tax authorities must include them, they must not be means for #taxevasion & avoidance.
RT @BalazsOrban_HU: 🇭🇺Hungary again had the lowest ⚡energy⚡ prices in the 🇪🇺EU: the average price of electricity and natural gas paid by residential consumers in Budapest is the lowest among the EU capitals surveyed in August.
I feel strongly inspired by this and would definitely support charging a lower VAT whenever a product is bought by a woman. I hope COM will come forward with such a proposal asap. ☺
I thought after several years in the EP nothing can surprise me. Today, however, at @EP_Economics meeting, my fellow MEP, @Evelyn_Regner asked @PaoloGentiloni whether the COM considers the #gender dimension of #VAT – as mainly women do the shopping for the household, she argued.
@Lagarde says: the #EU is a victim of the present #EnergyCrisis
She is right, but let us add: the #sanctions have aggravated the stituation.
@Lagarde today at @EP_Economics : #electricityprice reform could bring down #inflation.
Let’s hope @EU_Commission will bear this in mind when coming forward with its proposal. It should be balanced and take into account Member States’ differences.
