Looking back at the past two years, there were many lessons learned and put into legal proposals to amend our mandate, part of this in particular is about the strenghthening of the preparedness and updating surveillance for future crises.
There is really no doubt that the pandemic is not over yet and that there is no time for complacency now.

@EU_Health @europarl_en @EU_Commission @Eurosurveillanc @EMA_News @EFSA_EU @EU_ECHA @WHO_Europe We are currently seeing a surge in the #COVID19 case notification rates across Europe, as well as an increasing trend in hospital, ICU admissions and occupancy in several EU and EEA countries.
These cases are mainly driven by the BA.5 sublineage of #Omicron.

There is no clear evidence to support giving a 2nd booster dose to people <60 years of age not at higher risk of severe disease.
