The unanimous decision making in the @EUCouncil must be abolished, when debating crucial questions like Schengen; Romania and Bulgaria shouldn't be separated in their accession.

The expansion of Schengen is a purely political debate where BG and RO are treated unfair. The pressure by extremists & eurosceptics in some countries is not an excuse. Leadership is not about telling people what they want to hear, but about making hard decisions and defend them.

Schengen & solidarity?
EU wasn't ready for the refugee wave of 2015, but the countries at the external borders (Bulgaria, Greece, Malta & Italy) still take the burden & the frontline responsibility for the migration issue. How does this correspond to EU shared solidarity concept?

All EU states must equally share the responsibility with the ones at the external borders. Funding is important, but it's not the sole solution. It's neither fair, nor European to let a partner deal all alone with common issues & problems that actually affect everyone in the EU.

The EU needs to answer an honest question: Do we want to grow? If some Member States in the @EUCouncil say “no”, they should be open about it and admit it, instead of pedalling arguments that both the @EU_Commission and the @europarl_en rejected.

The EU leaders should be bold enough to abolish the unanimous decision-making in the @EUCouncil. Otherwise, topics such as the long-term , the single seat of the and will always be the victim of governments’ domestic political agendas.
