On the occasion of the International Day for the Elderly, which will be celebrated in a few days, Miriam and I attended a mass organised by . Together we celebrated the contribution that the elderly have given and are still giving to our society.

Today, I visited the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta. Architect David Zahra explained the progress of this @heritagemalta project and the discoveries made during the works. These include a cycle of fresco paintings that date back to the rule of Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt.

A most interesting conversation with author Prof. Charles Briffa following a presentation of a considerable number of books that he authored. Together with representatives from l-Akkademja tal-Malti and Malta Libraries, we discussed the future of the language.

This morning I had a very interesting meeting with the Head of the Maltese Representation in Ramallah, Palestine, Mr Franklin Aquilina. During the meeting, we discussed at length developments related to the political situation in the region.

Last night we had the pleasure of attending the Concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Mro Alan Chircop @teatrumanoel. The concert was organised by Festivals Malta together with the National Festivities Committee.

Earlier today, we attended the pontifical mass on the occasion of . Afterwards, together with Minister Owen Bonnici & the Leader of the Opposition Bernard Grech, I honoured Independent Malta by placing a bouquet of flowers on the Independence Monument in Floriana.

Last Saturday I was received by Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons at the Palace of as part of my appointments to honour the memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Sir Hoyle spoke of the special affection that the Queen held towards .
