@McCartneyJoseph @GabeFin @allianceparty I haven't accused anyone discussing this issue of mansplaining afaik. If you have the tweets let's see the context.

And I limited it to this issue, because I do occasionally call out mansplaining when I'm subjected to it.

@orlaighcorr24 I have already explained why I wouldn't be there. As Justice Minister, I cannot interfere or comment on any aspect of a live court case or police investigation: that includes a coroner's inquest. To do so could jeopardise the inquest and any potential prosecution flowing from it.

RT @MichelleGuy4: Such a great time hosting a reception in @lisburnccc HQ with community and council representatives from Cork in place of the Mayor. Their visit is part of a long standing cross border initiative.

Thanks to @cllrpaulporter for the very interesting tour of the Council Chamber!

RT @AndrewMuirNI: 100 Days since 5 May Election it's shameful that despite 71% MLAs voting to elect a Speaker DUP still veto restoration of Assembly & Executive

We need to stop cycle of crisis & collapse, ending ransom politics for good by reforming our institutions

RT @h_irwin98: No better way to spend a sunny morning than out delivering in Bangor West 😎☀️

Still feels weird seeing my own face on a leaflet...

@McCartneyJoseph @GabeFin @allianceparty I not once said anyone on this thread was "mansplaining".

Sounds like your conscience talking, not me.

@G99____ @SPENCE_JOHN @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury However, there are families who don't really need it to make ends meet. That's the reality of a universal payment. As one of those people, I'd rather it went to those more in need. Not sure this is as radical an idea as you seem to think.

@SPENCE_JOHN @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury I was sceptical of the voucher scheme for the same reason, and so never applied.

They will receive money: my point is those in most need could receive more if people not in need weren't getting a share of it.

Anyway, that chance of targeting is gone anyway.

@G99____ @SPENCE_JOHN @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury Not only those on benefits are in need.

Realistically, given the time that has been wasted without an Executive, we are likely to simply roll out a similar scheme to GB.

The question now is when: there's no Executive to do it and Westminster haven't figured out how they can.

@The_Brain_1968 @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury I've not been there for 24 years; however, we have consistently proposed and supported reform.

It's reasonable to hold others to account for their failure to do likewise.

@The_Brain_1968 @pjdunckwin @nickyroliver73 @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury None of the legislation I brought forward as Justice Minister in the last 2.5 years was copied from Westminster. I'd argue it was all pretty important and is already protecting people.

RT @allianceparty: “Almost one hundred days since the election on May 5, and circumstances have only become worse for many. It’s time for the DUP to end their shameful games and help the rest of us deal with the cost of living crisis,” says @AndrewMuirNI

RT @NIPrisons: Thanks to @IFAFootballDev for completing the ‘Stay Onside’ Programme at Hydebank. This was the first time it had been delivered to women and it was a great success.

Special thanks to the members of the @IrishFA Women’s Team who joined us at Hydebank for a game last night!

@SPENCE_JOHN @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury The Executive could do that quicker too. Westminster doesn't currently have the power - they'll need new legislation.

As someone who is on a good salary, we can probably manage without the £400: I'd rather see it going to those for whom £400 won't be enough, that's all.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/naomi_long/status/15

@SPENCE_JOHN @The_Brain_1968 @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury In some cases, it's both, I agree.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/naomi_long/status/15

@The_Brain_1968 @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury We've proposed reform to address that. Time both Governments stepped up.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/naomi_long/status/15

@SPENCE_JOHN @BillyKi72445808 @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury I've not objected to the UK govt distributing directly against heating bills: they haven't, though.

I've simply said that, had we had an Executive since May, my preference would have been to use the money to target those most in need, which we would have had time to do.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/naomi_long/status/15

@SPENCE_JOHN @BillyKi72445808 @nadhimzahawi @hmtreasury Nope, that's not the problem. The problem is we can't distribute it at all right now as there's neither an Executive, who could, nor a mechanism for Westminster to do it.

Unlike in GB, energy here is devolved and we're part of a separate market: it can't be done as simply.
