Super interesting read by @linakhanFTC, the chair of the relevant authority, on regulating AI.

Democrats seem to go more in a European, values & rights direction.

If true, EU & US regulators should cooperate and come up with common regulation & enforcement!
RT @datasociety: "The trajectory of the Web 2.0 era was not inevitable," @linakhanFTC writes. It was shaped by policy choices. "As the use of AI becomes more widespread, public officials have a responsibility…

No freedom of press, no rule of law, no fair elections, no real education - incubators are supposed to grow sth, not destroy it. Test failed.

I just learned shocking news about the disqualification of @VoltGreece (as part of a 7-party alliance @PrasinoMov) from Greek national elections on the basis of 1 (!) error on a confusing new platform.

🇬🇷 Interior Minister Spanou, please look at this 🙏🏼 areiospagos.gr/ekloges_2023_ma

I met two younger MPs from the conservative & labour parties - both elected for Valetta.

They taught me a lot about Maltese democracy and maybe also it’s limits. I am impressed by their energy of doing full-time jobs AND being MPs! /6

Stop 2: Asylum closed & open camps

In both camps, common spaces and activities could be better, while the mental health focus is good.

However, I leave w two key questions:

- Are all the people rightfully detained?
- Is the access to lawyers sufficient? /3

The last 2 days I spent in Malta 🇲🇹 here is what I learned:

🏛️ Malta’s 2-party system w part-time MPs needs reform & new parties

⚡️ Energy prices, population density, competitiveness are key

👩‍💻 Share (20%) & increase (100k) in foreign workers are exceptional /1

But more needs to be done.

My dream is, that we have a full and vibrant house during some core debates and that our hearings are so interesting, that people across the world want to tune in.

Together with the young MEPs, the , I will push to get there!

Parliament can be very boring. Especially, when we don’t really argue and discuss with each other.

That’s why a young group of MEPs and I conspired to improve our debating culture.

Our efforts resulted in the first changes in our house rules - which is great!

I recently build a python scraper again. It scraped pages based on search words.

It made me think about : Once a backdoor is built into secure communication, the code is indifferent to the word you use.

This is too much power for anyone to wield over all of us. 🚫
