Nina Gregori, the director, told me about how she is implementing the new mandate of the EUAA that I negotiated with other colleagues, incl. fundamental rights officer & country-analyses! /2

Stop 2: Asylum closed & open camps
In both camps, common spaces and activities could be better, while the mental health focus is good.
However, I leave w two key questions:
- Are all the people rightfully detained?
- Is the access to lawyers sufficient? /3

After a day focused on migration, I met the great local Volt-team, learning more about our chances in elections here! /4

I met two younger MPs from the conservative & labour parties - both elected for Valetta.
They taught me a lot about Maltese democracy and maybe also it’s limits. I am impressed by their energy of doing full-time jobs AND being MPs! /6

With the minister of finance & employment I discussed my permanent residence law - and the idea of a permanent fiscal tool for the EU.

The energy minister and I used to work on a law together, when she was still an MEP - so I was happy to see her again!
We discussed the viability of offshore and onshore energy production - very interesting! /8

One can’t go to Malta without checking out his paintings in St John’s.
