RT @EmilienGasc: Green Party leaders @carla_denyer & @AdrianRamsay open in Harrogate with focus on economic fairness, energy, climate, healthcare and a method: nationalisations and a timetable for electoral gains. I will be observing the Conference for @EUdelegationUK.

It would have been wise to set a budget to fund benefits for those who need help, not to fund benefits for those who don't need help. During a cost of living crisis.
RT @drmusicstands: The Times reports that Truss is “set to curb benefits to fund budget”

That says it all....

RT @RichardJMurphy: Second, because we cannot afford a general election as yet, having already had months without a government this year, a cross-party coalition will need to stabilise the country. I sincerely hope this can be achieved.

OBR confirms on record my story from 9 days ago that it prepared a draft forecast for new Chancellor waiting for him on first day at Treasury 6th September, and that an offer for a legally compliant forecast to accompany the mini-budget was rejected.

@99_redballoonz @mrjamesob When they say 'difficult' they mean that they are pretending to be uncomfortable destroying the lives of ordinary people. They don't actually find that difficult. They are laughing, still partying and sending money to their mates. Nothing's easier for them.

RT @AdrianRamsay: Horrendous set of interviews from @trussliz today. Total failure to take responsibility for this economic mess.

How can she pretend to be on side of ordinary people after giving tax cuts to mega earners while ordinary people face soaring prices & unaffordable mortgages & rents?

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

RT @MarcFrance: @AdrianRamsay @trussliz Nobody mentioned that the govt has borrowed £180bn and given that to the oil companies (rather than windfall taxing them to the same tune and using that to prop up peoples bills) which started this whole mess in the first place.
Either our govt is corrupt or its incompetent.

@mrjamesob A liztopian nightmare. Or at least a kwasi liztopian nightmare. There may be wuss to come.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

RT @Eminescu: @mrjamesob Truss is perfectly correct when she says that the current Tory catastrophe is all down to Putin. Putin paid for brexit and he was responsible for putting BJ in No:10 and for funding the Tories. So he is in fact responsible for all this mess.

@KiltedGreen @TheGreenParty Just think what a different country we'd be if PR had been brought in at the start of the century! All those policies would be in place, we'd have no energy problem but would be self sufficient in renewables and storage, we'd have warm homes and good public transport. And 🇪🇺 ❤️❤️

RT @catherinerowett: @GarethJoice @lelcampbell7 @nadinebh_ Yes "grudgingly" was an understatement. If he could have added all the taxes to low paid workers and exempted fossil fuels and wealthy people he'd have done so. Kamikaze chancellor has more or less done that.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/catherinerowett/stat

By the way the UK's rising cost of living isn't just Putin or the energy crisis. It's Brexit: the falling value of the pound, rising cost of imports, devastatingly bad balance of trade, Brexit-related staff shortages, plus high death rates and long covid, due to Tory clusterfuck.

You could have asked for forecasts and assessments. You could have consulted the bank of England. You could have asked an MMT economist to advise on what else you have to do besides throw money about. You could have asked the IMF.
