RT @DapsDraws: The books we make about climate change for children need to skew more towards highlighting corporations and governments as the perpetrators, and less towards telling children to Clean Up. I LOVE our book, but this isn’t helpful in the way we want it to be any more.

RT @greenmattbfd: 😠 Boris Johnson is trying to give his father a peerage.

😡 Liz Truss is trying to give her adviser (on who's advice she tanked our economy) a peerage.

🤬 The entire system is rotten.

Abolish The House of Lords

@D_Raval They don't select a Tory majority. They select the audience to match the proportions who voted. That means (former) Tory voters were the largest group but not more than half.

@AnnTurner7 @paddyakker @johnredwood No it's not what you paid in a mortgage. It's a hundred or thousand times more than you paid for the house because the house value has risen through no effort of your own. And if you'd earned a million pounds by working or investing or selling investments you'd pay tax on it.

@AnnTurner7 @paddyakker @johnredwood It's not about what you paid to buy it. It's the increase in value from when your grandpa bought it for £2,000 and when your parents sell it for 1.5 million when he dies. Inheritance tax taxes that untaxed capital gain.

RT @EmilyLincOBrien: Government just came up with an ambitious environmental target - which turned out to by a typo 🤣...😢...😭😭😭

Thank goodness other options are available. No need to rely on typos- just vote for @TheGreenParty 💚

@clv101 @johnredwood Yes those would be better. But at least income tax is linked to your ability to pay and can have gradations designed to improve equality.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/catherinerowe

@Bruce83692351 @Christi09787198 @johnredwood I prefer taxes that are fair and incentivise the right things and discourage bad things. Whether it's easy to digitise is entirely irrelevant to whether it's a good tax.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/catherinerowe

@JeanPie24520 @johnredwood It's a tax on income. Incomes don't match the value of one's work. Some income is unearned.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/catherinerowe

@johnredwood Why not just abolish VAT? It's a tax on productivity and work, regressive in its effects, discourages business and enterprise. It doesn't reflect any useful measure of damage to anything. Replace it with income tax, import duties, and duties on damaging and destructive practices.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/catherinerowe

@PaulbernalUK @David_McWilliam As long as they ask what they voted last time it's (sort of) OK, but if they ask how they'd vote now it's skewed.

How many more great climate scientists who told us that we need radical change will die before we take the right action?
Greenwash and foot-dragging should be an international crime.

We don't want any strategic ties with Netanyahu and we should not be having him visit.

It's not complicated. Cancel the visit.

You couldn't make it up! Bank of England puts its prices up and then tells everyone else not to put their prices up because it drives inflation.
How do we get them to understand what happens to businesses when borrowing costs and commodity prices rise?

As greased piglet Johnson tries to wriggle free from his own crisis, our democracy pays the price. Parliament needs Ministers to be honest, Committees to be respected & constitutional conventions to be upheld. He failed on all counts.
