RT @PaulbernalUK: The best way to avoid having your measures equated with 1930s Germany is not to have measures equatable with 1930s Germany. Braverman might try that.

@TheToblin We have a modern slavery system but it's only for the lucky few 🙄
It would be funny if it wasn't so utterly vile.

RT @AdamBienkov: Suella Braverman apparently unable to say:

- When her pledge to 'stop the boats' will be met
- Whether her plan complies with the Human Rights Act
- Where she will build the new detention centres required to house the tens of thousands of people she plans to detain.

@littlegreydog3 And if there's no route provided for you, what will you do? What will the smugglers offer instead of a boat?

If you can't come on a boat, how will you come? These cruel Tories know that they are talking nonsense when they pretend that the problem they are addressing is boats. The problem they need to address (but aren't) is that they've outsourced refugee arrivals to people smugglers.

Read this and tell me what you understand it to mean, and what are the consequences for those illegally smuggled in to work as slaves.
RT @RishiSunak: If you come to the UK illegally:

➡️ You can’t claim asylum

➡️ You can’t benefit from our modern slavery protections

➡️ You can’t make spurious human rights claims

➡️ You can’t stay

"The vast majority were adult males under the age of 40, rich enough to pay criminal gangs thousands of pounds for passage."

Guess what - men can be refugees too. In fact, as @ZoeJardiniere explains, men are often those targeted in the first place.

RT @ZoeJardiniere: Looks like we need this one again today...

Yes, you can be a young man and a refugee.🙄

"Our approach is robust and novel"

Nothing novel here - there have been 43 failed attempts to stop the small boats, and this plan will be no different. And there's nothing 'robust’ about contravening the ECHR.

"When our Modern Slavery Act passed, the impact assessment envisaged 3,500 referrals a year. Last year, 17,000 referrals took on average 543 days to consider."

This falsely implies all modern slavery referrals are migrants – simply not the case. Thousands are in fact British.

RT @1Br0wn: This is an even more vile and disgusting lie than the Brexiteers’ claim the entire Turkish population was about to move to the UK when it imminently joined the EU

RT @RichardJMurphy: It would seem that someone in the Home Office has rumbled Suella Braverman. The Bill is almost certainly illegal, and so correctly named.

RT @YouGov: Forget the conspiracy theories, 15 minute neighbourhoods are popular in Britain.

Here's what amenities do Britons want within a 15 min walk from their home

Bus stop: 90%
Post box: 87%
Pharmacy: 85%
GP surgery: 83%
Park: 81%

RT @YouGov: Despite what you may have heard, a '15 minute neighbourhood' is simply one in which all essential amenities are within a 15 minute walk for everyone living in the area - and most Britons (62%) support their area becoming one

RT @mrjamesob: I presume 'YouGov' is trending because the 'fifteen-minute city' grifters have just crashed headlong into reality?

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/catherinerowe

@keith_wilson That's the story we've been telling to link the crisis with Brexit. But in reality there isn't any shortage, and that's not the root reason. There's a glut being sold off cheap in the Netherlands because they can't ship them here. And plenty here, except in the supermarkets.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/catherinerowe

RT @CarolineLucas: Braverman accuses me of "faux outrage" when I challenge her on shameful lack of safe & legal routes. Trust me, Home Secretary, my outrage is real. What's "faux" is your claim that Govt is treating refugees "compassion" when the reality is this divisive, dog-whistle legislation
