@_andyburrows @TorbenDavid @YlvaJohansson The implication that Thorn has a commercial interest in exaggerating the accuracy and precision of its technical tools, and the Commission should therefore not take them at face value, obviously. What implications were you talking about when you said that they were clear?

@_andyburrows @TorbenDavid @YlvaJohansson The implications I was casting were also intentional, because I believe them to be justified. You may have a different opinion of Thorn, but when you call something factually incorrect, details matter.

@_andyburrows @TorbenDavid @YlvaJohansson Industry is the activity of developing and distributing products for sale. Safer is for sale. Whether Thorn is registered as a 501(c)(3) has no bearing on the question whether they are selling something. What I said is correct.

@publictorsten @EU_Commission Good question. We don't even know what kind of material this supposed bench test was based on, and judging by the response to my FOIA request, which requires the disclosure of all relevant information on file, nor does the @EU_Commission.

The source for the 99.9% precision rate number in the @EU_Commission impact assessment is "data from bench tests", apparently from the company Safer. In the process of responding to my #FOIA request, the @EU_Commission asked for my snail mail address, asked for more time to consult with colleagues, misgendered me, failed to meet the extended deadline, all to finally admit that they believed whatever numbers #Meta published.🙄
EU Commissioner @YlvaJohansson claimed that AI is capable of detecting unknown depictions of sexualized violence against children with over 90% accuracy & 99% precision.
