This is good news. In my experience the people who you would think would consider such issues when planning simply don’t! Making it compulsory for embodied carbon amounts to be written down should facilitate a greater awareness of the climate impact of construction. @TimberDevUK

@ouronehome But please think about the materials you use. Some insulation materials have a been made using large amounts of fossil fuel eg polystyrene insulation. Others less eg rock/stone wool. Others very little eg wood fibre, sheep’s wool.

@now_ecology Which is exactly why we need to build more with timber to both substitute for concrete where appropriate & to store carbon in wood in the built environment. This will involve chopping down trees & replanting in a sustainable way.
