RT @juliahobsbawm: It is debatable whether the complex (understatement) financial affairs of a politician like @nadhimzahawi would not be mapped and scrutinised in a more sophisticated way in virtually any other advanced nation: ever heard of linked databases in the civil service??

It is indeed referenced as an option for safely storing carbon & technically it would work BUT it is a ridiculous/criminal waste of wood. You can achieve exactly the same by using more wood in the built environment PLUS it substitutes for carbon releasing concrete & steel.
RT @ErikHoffner: Growing trees to bury them?

Prefer , useful living trees, to this, but it’s being studied:

“Wood harvesting & storage is a method to combat climate change by har…

@StuartReigeluth @CEPF_EU @CEPI_Paper @Fern_NGO @WWFLeadForests @celine_tellier @1410Waterloo @Belgium @RevolveMediaCo @EU_ENV I'd say it was only deforestation if there is a conscious decision to change the land use and to not replace the felled trees either via new planting (say three saplings for one felled tree) or to allow natural regrowth.

Disappointed by @Olympics decision to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to attend 2024 Paris games. Politically and morally wrong – time to strengthen isolation, not give in to Russia. Sport is a tool in Russia’s propaganda machine, ignoring that means siding with aggression.
RT @ZelenskyyUa: We know how often tyrannies try to use sports for their ideological interests. It is obvious that any neutral flag of Russian athletes is stained with blood. I invite Mr.…

@MePeterNicholls @cutlerstom @philsturgeon @hanslope @BainbridgeFarms @Ben_Raskin @agricology @wakelyns @pworms @wigsandwords @oxfordfarming @FFC_Commission @Farm3Dwithtrees Indeed trees are gregarious. It's all revealed here:

RT @Farm3Dwithtrees: @heritage_wheat @PaulBrannenNE @hanslope @BainbridgeFarms @Ben_Raskin @agricology @wakelyns @pworms @wigsandwords @oxfordfarming @FFC_Commission Not always so. Obvs need right tree in right place but it’s all about good drain maintenance. Most trees dormant on winter so not seeking water when drains run. In summer drains shd be dry when trees looking slide water (unless drains broken - when trees exploit excess water)

This is very good from @alexcobham “The UK employs more than three times as many people to combat ‘benefit fraud’ as it does tax fraud, resulting in 23 times as many criminal prosecutions. Yet tax fraud costs us nine times as much.” 🤷‍♂️
RT @openDemocracy: OPINION: Paying tax is a social act, a contribution to a better society. The government is jeopardising that.

RT @Ben_Raskin: @Fraser_Bain @PaulBrannenNE @hanslope @BainbridgeFarms @agricology @wakelyns @pworms @wigsandwords @oxfordfarming @FFC_Commission @Farm3Dwithtrees On wet ground trees can dry soil allowing earlier cultivation and therefore longer growing season.
Overyielding in middle of rows can also compensate for losses next to trees

9% of EU agriculture is agroforestry of some kind & the trend is upwards. Much lower in the UK. It’s actually how we used to farm so more a case of rediscovering the benefits. See agforward.eu/

RT @SustainableTall: Hemp has incredible carbon sequestration properties, and hempcrete blocks are a great alternative to concrete

In five months one hectare of hemp can trap 9 - 15 tonnes of CO2. This company aims to grow 1,000 hectares

@Fraser_Bain @hanslope @BainbridgeFarms @Ben_Raskin @agricology @wakelyns @pworms @wigsandwords @oxfordfarming @FFC_Commission @Farm3Dwithtrees Open to discussion on this but as I understand this picture is in the south of France where it's getting too hot in the summer for crops unless there is shade. Plus trees roots go deeper & don't compete with cereal roots @pworms can you comment?

@aribertdeckers One of the beauties of agroforestry is that it can be deployed in a myriad of ways and the evidence is that it virtually always increases biodiversity and hence diversity agforward.eu/

@horton_official What's odd is that there's a growing body of evidence that agro-forestry is a win-win and not an either/or. Plenty of UK farmers who can explain this to the NFU & DEFRA ie more trees on farms can increase farm incomes & deliver the same amount of food production +new wood fibre.
