@fion4gh I worked for a long time in the UK development sector. There is a right to shelter. There are going to be two billion more people in the world. They need homes. Currently we’re building them with concrete & steel & this will blow the remaining global carbon budget entirely.

@graffitology Or it could be timber products in the built environment such as roof joists or wood fibre insulation - often substituting for carbon intensive alternatives.

@ROCKWOOLGroup Progress of sorts but your customers need to remember that your products come with large carbon footprints as a result of the heat you use in your manufacturing. Nature based alternatives with much lower carbon footprints are available eg wood fibre, hemp etc

Have you ever wondered what one tonne of carbon safely removed from the atmosphere and stored looks like?

@AlexRowleyFife Congratulations on this development @AlexRowleyFife We now need to ensure that as many of the materials used to build well insulated homes are as green as possible ie wood fibre insulation not a fossil fuel based insulation like stone or rock wool @forestsandwood @asbp_uk

RT @darrenpjones: The EU has agreed a new carbon import tax and is phasing out emissions exemptions for coal blast furnaces for steel. The Tories have approved a new UK coal mine, on the basis it will export coaking coal for steel production in the EU. 🙄🤦‍♂️🤯

Unless there is a danger of structural collapse, and I doubt this is the case, demolition sends the signal that we are simply not serious about tackling climate change.
RT @SustainableTall: Wasteful and illogical

Plans to demolish four Glasgow tower blocks that accomodate 600 homes and replace with only 300 homes.

What’s more demolish and rebuild would entail 46% more carbon emissions than retrofitting the towers
