RT @Joe_Morris91: Interesting to read this. Timber is a foundation of local economies across Northumberland - Govt can and should do more to promote innovative, environmentally friendly construction both here at home and allow us to export expertise around the world

@SustainableTall @WaughThistleton I’m not sure re ‘sustainable’ as it’s a bit of a vague term. But per metre square of new office space created it may well have the lowest embodied carbon footprint in London & hence probably the UK.

Obviously climate change = bad news.
But also bad news for Putin = good.
RT @ScottDuncanWX: We just observed the warmest January day on record for many countries in Europe.
Truly unprecedented in modern records.

I’d always assumed that this look out tower at Tynemouth had been built in the backyard by a fellow whose ‘shed’ building hobby had got the better of him. Turns out it was built by the military to direct the firing of the guns at the Priory in the event of an attack on the Tyne.

Stoltenberg is correct. Appeasement won’t work with Putin.

The benefits of agroforestry were presented at the recent UN climate change talks in Egypt by Australian sheep farmer Mark Wootton. Significant tree planting has increased meat production not reduced it, plus a new timber income = win-win. @AFPAonline

@Graemewhitfield @john_tomaney Lightly written but carrying a heavy hard hit. It's been like this all my life in the NE. I was in 1A at Norham High School, North Shields in 1974. Eight streamed classes in each year group. Out of that 'top class' only three of us when to university yet they were all capable.

@Geenimetsuri The felled trees are replanted. The new young trees begin the sequestration process all over again. Over time the carbon stored in the forest + long life products (ie wooden buildings) stores more carbon than the forest alone. See: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41893-019-0462-4
