RT @StopCambo: 🚨BREAKING: Keir Starmer has said there will be no new oil & gas fields under a Labour government.

This is a huge win and thanks to the work of thousands of you across the country.

Together we will and all new oil & gas.

Wood's ability to store carbon long term in the built environment recognised in a major new academic report.

The most reliable & already existing technology for removing carbon from the atmosphere & safely storing it is via the increased use of wood in construction. See the science here: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10 @CEIBois @JonahFisherBBC

@EnergyCropsUK Is the farmer consciously referring to this approach as agroforestry? Or at least happy for others to do so?

RT @OceanCEO: Worth retweeting just in case there’s anyone out there still believing the twin myths of ‘heat pumps don’t work in the cold’ and ‘the grid won’t be able to take it’. 🤦

@ForestDefence @EUClimateAction @CEIBois @c_kulterer I think we should make common cause around increasing the % of wood that makes it into long life harvested wood products. Products that can then substitute for carbon intensive steel & concrete, responsible for 12% of CO2 emissions. We've an extra 2 billion to house by 2050.

Good to see the HoHo building in Vienna, one of the tallest wooden buildings in Europe, being used to illustrate the benefit of storing carbon in the built environment in a presentation today by ⁦@EUClimateAction⁩ ⁦@CEIBois⁩ ⁦@c_kulterer⁩

@DavidHowey It's a tricky one this. You will gain an immediate reduction in your fuel bills but the net climate benefit won't kick in until you've 'paid off' the carbon released while making the polyurethane, 5-10 years? This is the sting in the tail with most insulation. @europanels_EPF

RT @DavidHowey: External wall insulation is going up fast now on our house and coinciding with a cold spell (-3degC ATM). I’m astounded at the difference in thermal comfort it’s already making. I knew it would, but I had no idea that it would *feel* so much warmer. Insulate Britain!

This is good climate news.
RT @janrosenow: NEW RECORD: Europe has never added more renewable energy capacity as in 2022.

Wind and solar are becoming the backbone of the energy transition.

RT @PEFC: While other materials emit large amounts of CO2, does the opposite: it stores carbon, even after a tree has been harvested. Replacing steel and concrete with wood could reduce global CO2 emissions by 31%.

With regards achieving Net Zero the UK government are in danger of talking about how well they played in the first half (& they did, 1st country to sign up to NZ) but they really aren't playing well in the second half hence theguardian.com/environment/20

Great example of rethinking the built environment. Demolition has to be the last resort. 'Building on top' often possible as the original building often 'over engineered' ie it's foundations capable of taking a lot more weight on top & a wooden extension is light @CEIBois
RT @SustainableTall: This is a really interesting vertical extension
