While Putin is trying to use Russian energy to divide us, Europe is united in our response.
Member States, citizens and businesses all have a role to play.
By acting in solidarity, we can bring down our dependency on fossil fuels, and bring down our energy bills.
Europe 🇪🇺 is responding to rising energy prices with new measures to help consumers.
Today we are proposing new measures:
🔹Electricity demand reduction to save energy & money
🔹Using exceptional energy sector profits to help citizens and businesses pay their bills
In case of proven forced labour, authorities can:
🔴prohibit the placing of these products on the market Union
🔴ask to withdraw relevant products
🔴have them destroyed, rendered inoperable or disposed of in line with national law

There are 27,6 mill people victims of forced labour in the🌍
Today, the @EU_Commission has proposed to prohibit all products made with forced labour from the 🇪🇺market
The ban covers:
✔️ all products: goods made in the 🇪🇺 for our market, for export & imported
✔️ all industries
How will it work?
Phase 1️⃣ if National authorities assess that there are well founded reasons to suspect forced labour
Phase 2️⃣ they will start an investigation taking into account all info available focusing their effort where they are likely to be most effective
