The @EU_Commission welcomes today's agreement by the @EUCouncil to adopt a fifth package of restrictive measures against Putin's regime in response to its brutal aggression against Ukraine and its people.

Main changes:
✔️More emissions covered, notably from largest 13% livestock farms: €5.5bn+ in health benefits
✔️Transparency for citizens in permitting
✔️Better permitting regime: more ambition for all and flexibility for innovators
✔️Decarbonisation/depollution synergies
We are also proposing to modernise the Industrial Emissions Directive that controls pollution from large industrial plants and livestock farms.
Upgrading our tried and tested permitting system for our long-term Zero Pollution objectives. First new obligations around 2027-28.
Thanks to strengthened rules we keep protecting our #OzoneLayer & advancing towards EU’s climate neutrality by 2050 and #ParisAgreement goals.
Another big step to deliver on #EUGreenDeal.
Today @EU_Commission presents two 🆕Regulations to further reduce fluorinated greenhouse gases (f-gases) & ozone depleting substances in the EU.
These harmful human-made GHGs are contributing to global warming and have a higher warming potential than CO2.
