Phoned my energy supplier today to query our £2k bill. It transpired that there’d been a computer glitch & our account was a few hundred quid in credit. Others must also surely be affected. Moral of the story? If you pay by monthly direct debit, phone them & query your balance.

The gas pipeline crisis again sends prices soaring. As I’ve already said, domestic energy security is a serious issue that needs to be a fully costed part of future party manifestos. I genuinely believe that the public will come to treat this as important an issue as the NHS.

Why the media silence on the week long uprising in Iran? Reports of unarmed demonstrators being massacred. This is surely the best chance of restoring some degree of stability in the Middle East for many years. Our politicians also say nothing. They’ll be judged for their silence
