‘A smile will gain you ten more years of life’ - Chinese proverb.
Seeing ‘The Jews’ trending on here makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach. Twitter really does have the ability to be the mother of all cesspits when people, who should know better, choose to spout their particular brand of poison.
Having handled this, I have to say that it is truly magnificent. The skill and craftsmanship is something truly to behold. #VictoriaCross #Gallipoli #orders #medals #militaria #decorations #auction

Some say that politicians no longer know what they stand for. The public respect leaders who stand their ground & loathe those who blow with the wind. It was a shocking policy, but she’s shown a weakness of character that’ll be exploited on both the domestic & international stage
Thought it would be nice to buy one of the new coins with the king’s effigy from the @RoyalMintUK. Seems I’m not the only person to have the same idea.
Whatever your politics, this has to be one of the most embarrassing Faux Pas’ of modern time. Let it be a lesson to everyone that, when you are on the attack, never lose sight of the finer details.
RT @KwasiKwarteng: That isn’t me… @DailyMirror
Does this sound familiar Mr. Putin? 84 years ago today. History will be your judge.
RT @MilHistNow: On this day in 1938, Hitler annexes Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland. "It is the last territorial claim which I have to make in Europe," the Nazi leader assures the world.
The media isn’t mentioning that the pound is now higher than before the mini budget. The UK is the largest place for investment from the USA, and the sun will always come up in the morning. Whatever your politics, it’s time to talk our country up. We’re luckier than many realise.
Phoned my energy supplier today to query our £2k bill. It transpired that there’d been a computer glitch & our account was a few hundred quid in credit. Others must also surely be affected. Moral of the story? If you pay by monthly direct debit, phone them & query your balance.
The gas pipeline crisis again sends prices soaring. As I’ve already said, domestic energy security is a serious issue that needs to be a fully costed part of future party manifestos. I genuinely believe that the public will come to treat this as important an issue as the NHS.
Nice to have a balanced discussion about my thoughts on Kier Starmer’s conference speech with @Elliottjwebb on @bbchw earlier this morning.
Forgetting about ’Remember you’re a Womble’ what were the first single and album that you ever bought? Me:
Single: I Don’t Like Mondays, Boomtown Rats
Album: Setting Sons, The Jam
Lovely morning at #ColumbiaRoad Flower Market. My family traded for three generations down East Lane, (me over 25 years), so I think I’m qualified to say that it’s a proper & traditional London Street Market.
Lovely to meet up with one of @CWGC’s finest, @WW1_Education, at the OMRS convention in London. Finally meeting in person, having spend much time on the phone and by email, discussing the service, sacrifice and remembrance of native African casualties from the Great War.
Why the media silence on the week long uprising in Iran? Reports of unarmed demonstrators being massacred. This is surely the best chance of restoring some degree of stability in the Middle East for many years. Our politicians also say nothing. They’ll be judged for their silence
Tweet of the day. Excellent stuff Marcus. You have excelled yourself.
RT @HelloFromMarcus: Behold workshy wastrels, I have completed my risk assessment.
The monarchy has its detractors, (far less than the quiet majority), but there is no better advert for the UK. And before anyone moans about the cost, just remember that outside of sport, no advertising agency could ever hope to produce a global event, watched by 5.1bn people.
I’m off to bed at the end of a most momentous day. Looking down on a beautifully lit @WorcCathedral. #Worcester. ‘The faithful city’. Goodnight all. God save the King.
So many emotions have gone through my mind on this monumental day. Sorrow, pride and reflection, to name but a few. Her Majesty’s example of public service and duty should be held as an example to us all. Thank you Ma’am. Rest in peace. God save the King.
I’ve no idea who the singer/guitarist, who performed at ‘The Botanist’ in Worcester last night was, but he was excellent. Such a talent.
