Focusing on judicial reforms by the @EU_Commission is missing the point. Why?
Orbán's rule is based on systemic corruption, where courts never see a case, litigation isn't possible. The prosecution is the key.
Btw, that's why he commits himself to this theatre, but not to EPPO.

Why has then the Hungarian government vetoed at least 3 agreements in the past 3 years between the EU and various African, Carribean & Pacific organizations that was set to reduce illegal migration, @PM_ViktorOrban?
Just asking...
RT @PM_ViktorOrban: Finally! We owe a big thank you to @GiorgiaMeloni and the new Italian government for protecting the borders of Europe. t.co/llTz5XO2xi

In a debate at the foreign affairs committee of @europarl_en on post-war reconstruction of Ukraine I argued for a treaty-based model that declares Russia's responsibility for the war & obliges Russia to pay full reparations for damages by seizing its state & private assets abroad

@zoltanspox @schmidtmariaHU @PM_ViktorOrban That's quite a statement about @PM_ViktorOrban, who once said "never look at what I say but what I do". Mind you, neither is too gratifying.

@stefanobottoni1 Two further data from the same polster:
1. >80% of Fidesz voters are against sanctions;
2. The least educated oppose sanctions the most.
Everyone is welcome to draw any conclusion they please..

@euronewshu Kétségtelen tény, hogy szélsőjobboldali pozícióból minden baloldalinak tűnik.

Dear @JuditVarga_EU, you took the wrong flight and landed in the wrong city to deliver your uplifting message. A Russian withdrawal from Ukraine would make everyone's wish come true. Orbán is best placed to pass that on to his master.
RT @JuditVarga_EU: 🇺🇸Hello New York! Our important message to the US: let there be !

As in 1956, Hungary once again has to choose between two worlds: Eastern suppression, despotism, corruption and Western democracy, pluralism, freedom.
The heroes of 1956 gave a clear and uncompromising answer, we shall remember their sacrifice and follow their guidance.

In my contribution @europarl_en I stressed:
• We can only win the war if we stop the aggressor
• Sanctions don't work if Russia can circumvent them
• It's time to levy sanctions on countries that trade or cooperate
with Russia in building its high-tech military arsenal

Despite the total size of its national armies, weapons systems & defense budgets, the EU is powerless.
We can't depend on the US forever to guarantee our security and defend our citizens.
It's time to consider a common European army.

@h_david_baer Modern nationalists tend to forget that France and Britain have been par excellence empires until the recent past, hence anything but nation states.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/GyongyosiMarton/stat

@h_david_baer This is why for most Europeans "Heimat" (homeland with its sense of locality) doesn't make sense. And this is why "Vaterland" is a nationalist-ideological oxymoron, as empires by definition cannot be nation states. German federalism is a remarkable & functional accomplishment:)

1022 yrs ago St Stephen could have continued with his forefathers' politics, but he didn't:
he chose Christianity over paganism; western orientation over east - thus securing Hungary's place in Europe. 🇭🇺
Let us remember St Stephen's wisdom in face of current challenges 👇

Commemorating victims of Soviet mass deportations at @europarl_en.

Deportation is a crime against humanity, an attempt to annihilate entire nations. We remember, but also condemn Russia's aggression against the Ukraine and deportation of Ukrainians today.

Critics opposing Parliament's right to initiate legislation have a vested interest in maintaining weak EU institutions prone to national vetoes, blackmails and opt-outs. Time to change this anachronism and absurdity.

@MurphyPeterN @AFP If Orbán would be half as effective at representing Hungary's interests as Russia's, we could be successful country.

@katka_cseh Given the EU's inclination for continuous appeasement I would propose a compromise: let Patriarch Kirill travel into the EU via the Druzhba pipeline:)

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/GyongyosiMarton/stat

@EuroSandor This is precisely why Orbán's position is nonsense and why staying out of European cooperation is dangerous for Hungary. There is zero guarantee that Russian gas & oil will tranzit through Bulgaria or Ukraine, or Rosatom will ever build Paks II without EU-compatible technology.

@benson_karras @Petrine05647629 @europarl_en It certainly is thanks to cheap and accessible fossil fuels, and powerful oil, gas & nuclear lobbies of the past. But the technology is there and certainly worth investing in.
