Many of our clothes end up dumped in developing countries as waste. Part of the reason I have started hosting a clothes ‘Swap Shop’ in my Cork office 👖👗🧥
The next one on Friday! t.co/gQJhNCMu6N

Pascal Canfin: Today in the Énvi committee for EPP we had 8 non full Énvi members out of 22. 6 out of 8 members were replaced by agri members. 1/3 of the total EPP voting members came from the CDU when this delegation awaits for 1/5 of the EPP group. I call it manipulation by Manfred Weber

Re @adoolan34 @GreensEFA @greenparty_ie I'm no maths expert, but 44-44 isn't a loss in my books! The rejection failed in committee and now we move to plenary 💪

Two important votes this morning - we reform the Fisheries Control system 🎣 for accurate, fair and sustainable fishing, and we vote on the Nature Restoration Law 🌿
The big vote will be in July for the most ambitious legislation possible. t.co/J5qMjldpbU

🚨 No agreement reached on Nature Restoration Law in ENVI Committee with vote split 44/44. We move onto a vote in July plenary where together with progressive parties we will table our own amendments for ambitious action to t.co/X7qak61ra6

Re @GreensEFA @greenparty_ie We know that biodiversity collapse immediately threatens nature and agriculture. It is unacceptable for political leaders to choose to do nothing. In July, the final decision.

Today on I am thinking about the hundreds of refugees feared lost in the recent sinking off the coast of Greece. I am thinking of the many families who may never hear from their loved ones again. And how yet another disaster in the Med was entirely inevitable🧵 t.co/JIOY7N2vIr

Re Earlier this year I travelled to the island of Lesbos, as Irish search and rescue worker Seán Binder was standing trial on trumped-up charges. There thousands of desperate people continue to take treacherous boats for lack of any safe or legal route to Europe. t.co/DZzUA0D1BX

Re When they arrive on Lesbos they are often arrested, beaten and flung into camps. I was not welcomed by the Greek camp guards. The refugees in the camp however made me feel at home and even prepared dinner for us guests with the little that they had. t.co/ZOB2dqTxs6

Re A few days later we heard that the family that welcomed us so warmly had made it off the island and onto the next uncertain part of their journey to Europe. I hope they have found some peace wherever they are now.

Re The approach of the Greek authorities in persecuting Seán Binder or the refugees on Lesbos mirrors the inhumanity of EU border policy: cut legal avenues to enter Europe, build walls and fences, push people back at sea, and turn a blind eye when hundreds drown. t.co/IBq8vaQYw6
