Campaigns like Priced Out are right to focus on supply. The government needs to take on Nimbys and eco blockers alike. Space is not an issue - only 1.1% of England is used for residential buildings. And while we're at it, should 12% of land be protected as Green Belt? (2/2)

There is no point legislating on levelling up if the Bill doesn't commit to a huge programme of house building - no ifs or buts... (1/2)

Tonight I spoke against the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill - another unnecessary illiberal law that evades responsibility for the real reasons public services are in a mess, whether mismanagement or Lockdown or both.

We heard similar from Minister in @UKHouseofLords today. A full debate on will take place on Weds post 4pm, as part of Some of us will be reinforcing urgency of tackling ongoing Leashold scandals, part & parcel of an ownership form not fit for pupose.

To say that politics takes odd turns at present, is an understatement.

He's got a point (I may well add Lords to the list).
RT @JACKGUYANDERTON: Why does London have 6 mayors? Why does Labour want to create 50 more mayors? Are the 650 MPs in Westminster not enough?

Both Labour and the Conservatives want more useless politicians.

Britain doesn't want more politicians, we just want better ones.

Well done, @PippyBing - excellent comments and conversation with @Iromg on @LeeAndersonMP_ controversy as well as problems with schools. UFO discussion left me bemused, but good fun.

This is terrifying. To those who say on campus is some hyped-up culture war, read and weep. Being on left, being black, being an anti-racist - none of this protects you.

Couldn't get any photos, but I was pleased to be there for this little bit of history. References to freedom and importance of defending national sovereignty & borders elicited cheers. Good.
RT @Baroness_Nichol: And another one. Loads of applause from packed hall of MPs and peers

Later on I spoke in defence of journalistic freedom. I argued in defence of letting people report on demonstrations and why it is important - without threat of police arresting them on spurious grounds.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/Fox_Claire/st

I argued against protest-related, suspicion-less Stop&Search (ie police could, with no suspicions, search you). If you object, that too is a criminal offence. I compared it to treatment of innocent people in Lockdown. Does Gov actually want the public to turn against the police?

RT @DavidGHFrost: I join @UKHouseofLords colleagues in a letter to @thetimes this morning rejecting the many alarmist criticisms of the Retained EU Law Bill.

End of VERY long debate on Retained EU law last night. Swathes of unelected peers - who cheered on imposition of EU laws onto UK parliament - now demanding parliamentary accountability. I'm sceptical, especially when it's claimed we need EU law to defend worker's/women's rights.

Best speech of the day at 'debate' here in @UKHouseofLords was from @danielmgmoylan - bravo! Mind you, not much debate. Not surprising, but dispiriting that free speech concerns were marginalised.
RT @tfa4freedom: "I don't think that I ever signed up to wanting to live in a country that was the safest place in the world to be on the Internet, because if I had, I would have moved to China already where nothing is out of place." @danielmgmoylan

Despite government reassurances (and Lords focusing on the being ALL about protecting children) the majority of it threatens for ADULTS. Also legitimises political censorship - such as what was revealed in the Twitter files & @BigBrotherWatch report.

Yesterday I posed a question to former police chief Lord Hogan-Howe in the Lords, asking why we need more laws for police when they won't use the public-order laws we already have. No wonder the public is frustrated...

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/Fox_Claire/st

We just had an XR-style short disruption of Lords. But even after that, I raised problems with the Public Order Bill. It might be sold to the public as targeting Just Stop Oil and the like, but it will be used against other causes - eg anti-LTN protests in Hackney and Haringey...

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/Fox_Claire/st

I asked the minister if she'd urge schools to resist fashionable affirming of gender transitioning of anxious teens, and if government will reassure teachers resisting such moves - falsely labelled as bigots - that their employment will be protected. Not satisfied by reply, btw.

I listened carefully to Lords repeating lurid headlines about unaccompanied children being kidnapped and trafficked from hotels. While 100s of these young people are missing, it is still unclear why or how. I suggested that it isn't good to repeat conjecture as fact.
