Just to say i gave you a mention @manifestoclub
RT @Fox_Claire: Incentivised on-the-spot fines by private companies are a scandal - leading to many elderly people in North Wales terrorised from walking dogs etc. Defra have acted against it - why won't the Home Office do the same? (Or at least read Manifesto Committee report.)

A bit of a rant having sat through hours of anti-Brexit speeches aimed at opposing the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill. So many self-righteous fork-tongued contributions.

All parties agree that environmental targets should be reached at all costs. But I reminded the government that some hard choices lie ahead in today's economic climate. Eg, why pay farmers not to produce food? How can we hope to have economic growth if biodiversity trumps all?

Still stands...

Wore a matching coat in solidarity with @ALLIANCELGB. Superb organisation that's put on a superb thought-provoking conference programme of speakers. No miserable demo outside or institution-capturing NGO will silence this spirited crowd:they inspire more & more of us to speak out

Great to be here with colleagues from @acadofideas. Not just here as solidarity with @ALLIANCELGB. Lots of political nuance, depth & even different ways of approaching intolerance from @bindelj @Docstockk @HJoyceGender & Shereen Benjamin.

Keir Starmer promised to make it a crime to 'misgender' - and yet very few politicians seem able to talk about what a woman is. I asked the minister to ensure that women's rights would not be sidelined by a focus on gender identity.

That Labour are trying to change law to ban fracking, no ifs or buts, and with little regard for energy needs, should be noted. Short-termist & alarmist. Not serious politics but with serious consequences.
RT @nmdacosta: Labour’s Opp Day motions (1) economic situation (2) take control of order paper on Tuesday 29 Nov to introduce a bill to ban fracking. Govt amendment in response to 2 looks decent with heavy emphasis on creating a …

Packed in breafastbanter on Bitcoin. People standing/sitting on floor. Fascinating politically, even if technically I still haven't got a scoobie. But delighted @jeremyhildreth organised this session. Because we all need to understand this more & I am learning loads.

On NI Protocol Bill, hours of hectoring from Anti Brexit Alliance on how breaking international law ruins UK reputation abroad. So I spelled out why politicians should be answerable to domestic voters & why protocol undermines sovereignty. Wound up by sneering Lords on all sides

Really looking forward to chairing this one at @acadofideas this weekend. Compelled speech, such as enforced declaration of pronouns etc, is one of the neglected areas of assaults on free speech and freedom of conscience.

One problem with budget: Truss/Kwarteng didn't bother trying to sell it to Cabinet, backbenchers, never mind the public. Not strong on communication. Tonight @UKHouseofLords Minister referred to my speech as in praise of green growth. Wot? They don't listen either. BLOODY CHEEK!

Everyone now says they're pro growth but I'm sceptical. Gov talk growth but still cling to net zero. Only idea is tax cutting, when no evidence that windfall will be invested in innovation/productivity/new industrial sectors. Because Lords, plenty still blaming Brexit. Pathetic.
