I'm opposed to voter photo-ID on principle. But we lost that argument months ago. Lib Dems are now trying to overturn the vote. Their case not helped by scaremongering about marginalised GPS, ethnic minorities and the poor being hapless and hopeless. Talk about patronising…

During the Archbishop of Canterbury's debate on morality of refugee policy, I tackled the small boats issue. I focused on the double standards and demonisation of anyone raising problems as lacking generosity. Whatever your position on immigration, we need to openly debate it.

I made a final short plea for transparency in research funding to ensure no interference in academic freedom. Not just Big Corporates, but Big Charity too - AND we should be wary of ideological capture of government research councils as well…
