🗞️📺🎙️ The @europarl_en & @EUCouncil reached the political agreement on the Media Freedom Act, the groundbreaking rules to support media pluralism and independence across Europe.

The 🇪🇺 Media Freedom Act will guarantee plurality of voices and that EU media are able to operate without any interference across borders in the EU internal market.

How?

The #EMFA will:

🔹protect public service media independence
🔹provide safeguards for journalists against surveillance
🔹ensure media ownership transparency
🔹tackle unjustified online content removal by VLOPs
🔹introduce media pluralism tests

👥 A new independent European Board for Media Services will facilitate the application of the Media Freedom Act across the EU and make sure the new rules under the EMFA become reality.
