❗️ Shocking child sexual abuse scandal: a babysitter with 120 charges. 15 years of impunity, of sharing horrid pictures and videos.

This material was not detected by companies. The law will ensure targeted detection orders.

@EUHomeAffairs This babysitter, as well as over 100 suspects he was in touch with, was investigated and prosecuted WITHOUT the totalitarian scanning that @EUHomeAffairs propagates (but because of witness testimony). (Thread)

@EUHomeAffairs There is no indication this cunning IT specialist ever circulated material via platforms the EU COM wants to use indiscriminate on. Europol says offenders typically use self-encrypted archives, content of which CANNOT be detected by any hashing or AI.

@echo_pbreyer In fact, Markus R. not only exchanged images and videos via chats and encrypted messenger services over many years, but even participated in livestreams with other German offenders, directing them how to abuse children.

@EUHomeAffairs That fails to answer my question on which platforms were used. Where perpetrators use self-hosted platforms on the darknet, encrypted archives or decentralised P2P messenger services, these will certainly not implement detection requirements. Stop ignoring displacement effects.
