Deal on the €20 billion #REPowerEU!
Last night, we successfully finalised negotiations between @europarl_en & @EUCouncil.
We delivered on what we promised: REPowerEU will enter into force at the beginning of next year. 1/4

REPowerEU will support EU member states to invest in #energytransition & reduce energy dependence.
@europarl_en successfully negotiated:
✅20% prefinancing to support quick implementation of initiatives.
✅Retroactive financing of energy investments beginning February 2022. 2/4

✅ Regional funds may be used to finance REpowerEU objectives within the existing national programmes.
⛔ No to transfers from agriculture & cohesion policy. The green energy transition cannot be done at the expense of farmers and regions. 4/4

✅30% of funds for cross-border projects, so states can support each other to tackle the energy crisis.
✅Notification of intention to use #RRF loans not yet accessed. Funds - over €200 bn - should otherwise be made available to other member states. 3/4
