Mandatory solar panels on all suitable new homes are a win-win: lower carbon emissions, improved energy security, 1000s of new high-skilled jobs, and no cost to the taxpayer. That’s what a rooftop revolution looks like - and that's what our Govt must deliver.

@CarolineLucas You can only fit solar panels if house faces the right way, is not blocked by hills or overshadowed by trees. So mandating impossible. If you could make all new homes face South even if it means being edge on to the road it would help people to make their own decisions. But we have lots of buildings that could take them like barns and railway stations. One country is trialling them between railway lines designed for easy removal for track maintenance.

@CarolineLucas Give every farm a wind turbine or two but not monster ones. Farms often have a good grid supply.

@CarolineLucas This is excellent. This responsibility should cut out some of the cowboy developers looking for a quick profit. Presently, they bulldoze arable land, reduce carbon capture and do the bare minimum to mitigate their despoilment.

@CarolineLucas We have been saying this for ages - but Tory supporting housebuilders want every bit of profit
