In 2010 #Brighton Pavilion made history by electing me UK’s 1st Green MP & it’s been the honour of my life. My open letter to residents & friends explains why I’m not standing at next General Election. With love & gratitude, I hope I've done you proud 👇

A Letter from the River Roding
On the eve of the March for Clean Water, I recorded (with @letterstoearth_ ) a letter from the river I love to the human world, imagining what this ancient river would say to us if it could speak.
“The most important thing you need to do is to take my voice & intereses into account in all the decisions you make about me. And you need to do this not just because I have an inherent right to exist, and not just because you rely on me for your own existence, but because I believe fundamentally you miss me, the connection we used to have, and the river I used to be.”
Looking forward to seeing lots of you who already speak for our rivers at the march tomorrow to make our voices heard.

RT by @CarolineLucas: Tens of thousands of people came from rivers & seas across the country to march through London in the biggest water demonstration in UK history. It was so large that people were still leaving the Albert Embankment as the procession entered Parliament Square.
All those marching on the @MarchforWater had a simple message: we need real action for clean water & we need it now.
