Retirar o desflurano desta lista,abrindo uma exceção para situações estritamente necessárias, a consideração destas tecnologias e o controlo apertado da UE sobre as emissões deste anestésico cria o equilíbrio perfeito entre salvaguardar os doentes que precisam e salvar o planeta.

Mais ainda, existem tecnologias capazes de o recaptar e impedir que seja libertado para a atmosfera, reduzindo o impacto ambiental.

No entanto, decidi alertar que este gás anestésico é aquele que melhor garante cirurgias em segurança para doentes pediátricos, obesos e idosos e em ambulatório pelo facto de facilmente permitir “acordar” o doente em pouco tempo.

Nesta sessão plenária, o Parlamento Europeu decidiu a sua posição no Regulamento dos Gases Fluorados.

Em cima da mesa, estava a inclusão do desflurano na lista dos gases banidos, uma vez que estes gases contribuem para o efeito de estufa.
