It was a pleasure to join the Irish community in Malta to celebrate the National Day of #Ireland. Our diplomatic relations were established 33 years ago. Our friendship, however, is deep-rooted in centuries of common history, struggles, beliefs & manifestations of mutual respect.

Today, I visited the BCRS Clearing Centre and Sorting Plant in Hal Far. As we continue to face environmental challenges, it is heartening to see the public and importers, retailers and producers of beverages creating a social positive impact through an environmental initiative.

It was a pleasure to receive Maltese author Alfred Massa for a courtesy call this afternoon. Mr Massa, who was accompanied by representatives from the Akkademja tal-Malti and Malta Libraries, donated several of his books to the Anton Buttigieg Library housed at Sant’Anton Palace.

I enjoyed meeting the administration and some of the residents of the RISe Foundation on the tenth anniversary of the establishment of this foundation.

Together we planted 10 citrus trees in The President’s Kitchen Garden to commemorate this important anniversary.

Today I had the pleasure to receive a farewell call from Mr Anthony C. Mifsud as he concludes his term as Parliamentary Ombudsman. During our meeting, Mr Mifsud presented me with a copy of the publication ‘Case Notes 2022’.

We discussed the significance of this symbolism & agreed that remembrance is not only limited to those fallen in the two World Wars but also applies nowadays to all of those who are sacrificing their lives for peace, freedom and democracy in ongoing military activities and wars.
