My statement at :

We must make technology work for democracy.

The state should be where the people are, and the people live their lives online.

Proud to co-lead the Technology for Democracy Cohort with the UK and @accessnow.

In an open letter by eight European leaders to companies, we stress the urgent need to take more efficient steps against disinformation.

Social media should not be used to destabilise democracies. Tech platforms also have a responsibility to make sure it doesn't happen.

in 2004, Estonia and six more allies joined NATO.

After Soviet occupation, we made Never Again Alone our foreign and security policy motto.

NATO is a cornerstone of Euro-Atlantic freedom and security.

This is also a good thread about the Soviet terror and how it has influenced the Baltic countries:

On 25 March 1949 my family was among the 20 000 Estonians deported to Siberia by the Soviets.

Russia uses the same terror tactics in Ukraine. We must end this cycle of aggression. Ukraine must win. Russia must be held accountable for all crimes committed.

My mother was deported to Siberia today 74 years ago as a 6-months old baby. Russia hasn’t changed.
RT @MFAestonia: Russia has long history of having no regards towards human life & their homes.

7⃣4⃣years ago Soviets deported over 20 000 Estonians from their homes to Russia. Like they are doing now with children of 🇺🇦

We commemorate those whose lives were destroyed.

Today’s focus is on euroarea economy, capital markets, banking. We’ve learnt from last crisis and now we’re more resilient.
Must go forward with banking union and capital markets union. Incentivising inflow of private capital and investments are fundamental for twin transition.

RT @sandra_sarav: Our prime minister @kajakallas also sold the idea of reducing administrative burden of companies with real time economy solutions to European leaders. Already had a follow up meeting @EU_Commission today. Call it Estonian efficiency!

Sanctions as well as EU and G7 oil price cap are working. We must keep up the pressure.

Russia earned 42% less from selling oil this February than last. This shows oil price cap has been one of the most efficient tools in cutting Russia’s revenues. Need to continue reviewing it.

arrest warrants have made it clear there's no impunity and no immunity not even for the sitting heads of states.

This brings new momentum to establish a special tribunal for the crime of aggression. can play a role in here. Will raise it with @antonioguterres today.

Just arrived at . Boosting and ensuring competitiveness of Europe's economy requires a strong and fair competition.

We need to cut down on administrative burden with the help of digital tools, so entrepreneurs can focus on their business instead of paperwork.

At we'll increase the cost of war for Russia.

We can be quick and we are committed for the long-term.

Glad we'll approve my proposal to send Ukraine 1 million shells within next 12 months.

We must keep up the pressure until Ukraine has won.

Russia has prepared for a long confrontation and so must we.

has increased its defence budget significantly, it will reach 3% of GDP by 2024.

2% of GDP on defence spending must be the floor, not the ceiling.

RT @MoD_Estonia: While NATO allies have increased
defence spending, only 7️⃣ 🇬🇷🇺🇸🇱🇹🇵🇱🇬🇧🇪🇪🇱🇻 met the guideline of spending 2️⃣%/GDP on defence in 2022.

@kajakallas in Politico: I think everybody should understand, knowing and seeing what is happening in , that we don’t have that time.

I proposed member states jointly procure 1 million shells for Ukraine.

Glad that EU foreign and defence ministers approved the initiative today.

This helps to ramp up European defence industry and boost our security
