Free media is a cornerstone of a free society.
In Estonia, we value our freedom.
We rank 4th globally for press freedom. The whole top 5 of @RSF_inter Index is very Nordic.
But in far too many places, being a reporter is extremely dangerous.
I made a statement in @Riigikogu and handed over supplementary budget of 802.9 million euros - almost 2.2% of our GDP.
It covers costs related to strengthening our security, helping Ukrainian war refugees in 🇪🇪 and strengthening our energy security.

We signed the updated MoU on digital cooperation. Estonia is committed to supporting Cyprus’ digital ambitions.
We also focused on Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine, sanctions and ways to support Ukraine.
15 years ago #OTD, Estonia was targeted by the first known cyberattacks against a whole nation.
It was a wake-up call for many on how malicious actors can misuse cyberspace.
Today, Estonia is a #cybersecurity heavyweight. 3rd globally and 1st in Europe.

Born under Soviet occupation, I had never experienced freedom. Now I can stand here and breathe that same air of freedom.
If we do everything to help Ukraine, there will be no 11-year-olds for whom the air of freedom is something they only experience from a distance. 2/8

To adjust European security, we must spend more on defence and strengthen our capabilities jointly. Need strong decisions to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank.

We need more troops and enablers in our region. Germany’s support in strengthening NATO's eastern flank is essential.
