Today Lithuanians celebrate the anniversary of the Restoration of Independence in 1990. We had to fight for our freedom from Moscow armed only with songs. We had no fear of the collapse of the Soviet Union. We accelerated it. We won. We know that Ukrainians will win too.

If Putin is given an offramp he will use it to drive straight to the next conflict. If he is left undefeated in Ukraine he will be back later for more. Peace requires victory, not compromises with the invaders. It's time to finally secure the eastern flank of Europe.

More than 30 years ago, out of the victory against the the USSR, a free and independent Lithuania emerged.
Ahead of the NATO Summit in Vilnius, I reiterated today to my good friend @SecBlinken that peace will be born out of Ukrainian victory against Russia.
