It also leaves us to the good will of some few CEOs who obviously do not care about the people but only about their own salary.
In northern France 40% of fuel stations are empty. Why? Because @TotalEnergies made 10 billion (!!!) US-Dollars in profits this year, robbing the savings of the whole society but refuses to raise the salaries for their workers. So now they protest and refuse to go to work.
This clearly shows that the time of big corporations controlling our energy markets must come to an end! Centralised fossil fuel infrastructure is not only a security risk because its vulnerable to attacks (look at nord stream pipeline).

Protestors practiced civil disobedience. An act of non-violent protest, cd is a form of protest fit for extreme cases, eg here, where activists acted to protect their rights to a worthwhile environment&ultimately to live while time is running
/6 My role?
As a legal observer, I watched the protest & made sure to document police brutality, should it arise. I was using my privilege as an MEP to protect protesters. Thankfully, I did not witness any incidents of police brutality and none were reported to me
/5 We as Europeans have the responsibility to pressure the European company #TotalEnergies to cease their oil engagement in Uganda&Tanzania. If built, #stopEACOP will produce 40M tons of addit. CO2 emissions per year & is therefore not sustainable at all!

Putting pressure on TotalEnergies, fossil industries in general & politics to #stopfossils
TotalEnergies is trying to build an oil pipeline #stopEACOP through Uganda&Tanzania, destroying livelihoods of hundreds of ppl, while the world NEEDS to shift away from fossils
/3 The action went on until Sunday and was accompanied by a demo at #Écaussines in support of the protestors who camped the night out at the refinery

/2 In the early hours of Sat, activists from 24 groups sat down on the train tracks leading to TotalEnergies oil refineries in both Feluy&Liège. They chained themselves to standing waggons & the tracks to stop supply for the refineries, bravely using their own bodies as a shield
During the weekend, I was a legal observer for the @coderoodrouge blockade of @TotalEnergies refinery in Feluy. Around 1000 activists sent a strong message by practicing civil disobedience & blocking the refinery’s infrastructure.
